The Minimalist Guide to Hair Masks You Can Make at Home!

Sometimes our hair can be a hassle and expensive to deal with but, if you are on a budget and your hair is begging for some tender, love, and care there are some DIY (Do It Yourself) hair masks that you can make using some of the most common kitchen items. These raw and natural ingredients are great sources for achieving healthier, shinier, and more hydrated hair. Let’s take a look at these natural hair masks and their hair benefits.

Greek Yogurt & Honey Mask

If you have some extra Yoplait (the plain kind of course) lying around you can utilize it for all of its natural, antioxidant properties. Yogurt restores moisture and strengthens the hair all at once too. The honey aids with natural shine and luster to give your hair that extra “oomph”! This yogurt mask strengthens, smooths, and makes the detangling process much easier. You can co-wash or after you've washed your hair as a deep conditioner. Whether you apply before or after, be sure to let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes or however long you like to get maximum results.

Avocado, Olive Oil, and Mayonnaise Mask

This mask is one I use when I am looking for something to add extra shine and moisture in my hair. Avocado is a superfood, and it has various vitamins that our body needs such as vitamin A, D, and B to name a few. And, not to mention it is loaded with protein. Olive oil has rich and beautiful moisturizing properties, which makes it ideal for your hair. Now, mayonnaise may not sound that pleasing but, it is one of the holy grails in providing strong, elastic tresses! It is perfect for defining your curls, calming those frizzes, and taming your mane. This mixture has three ingredients to allow for maximum strength and shine. Just mix these ingredients in a bowl and apply it to your hair as a "pre-poo." Use a plastic cap and keep the mask on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse it out and continue with your regular wash routine. Your hair will be soft, full of curls, and hydrated.

Eggs, Oil, Honey, and Conditioner Mask

Egg masks are one of my favorite hair masks because eggs are loaded with protein. The yolk of the egg has many benefits. It has fatty acids, so many vitamins, and works like magic when it comes to strengthening the hair follicles, preventing hair loss while promoting hair growth. I select oils based on my hair's needs such as when my edges need attention, I use Jamaican Black Castor Oil. To increase the level of nutrients to your hair, use more than one type of oil. Honey is good for adding shine to your hair. Combine all of the ingredients to a sulfate free conditioner. The conditioner's smooth consistency for easy application. You can apply the mask to your hair before or after you wash your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes. Make sure to rinse your hair well. You will notice an incredible shine, defined and bouncy curls, and loads of moisture.

These masks can be used on your 100% human hair extensions as well as your natural hair. Your hair is your crown! Rock it like the queen you are!
