The Great Debate: Weave vs. Human Hair Wigs

Women are always trying to find the best route to change their hair up. Should they get a sew-in or should they do a wig? When you have your human hair extensions, you always want to try to get as much bang for your buck. Both sew-ins and wigs are great protective styles and extremely cute to wear. Below are some reasons why you might consider getting one over the other.

  1.    Wigs are easily removable

Unlike a sew-in, a wig you can take off at night. You can glue, gel, or clip it down and then remove it to get the best wear out of it.

  1.    Sew-ins are great when you need a good break from your hair

Sew-ins stay in for a given amount of time, anywhere from 1 to 3 months. If you’re someone that doesn’t want to remove something and then put it on in the morning, then a sew-in might be the best avenue for you. Especially if you’re on a time crunch.

  1.    Wigs don’t necessarily require a salon

If you’re someone who dislikes a salon atmosphere, then a wig might be the option for you. You may take your extensions to a salon to get made into a wig, but you don’t have to go there regularly to maintain it.  There are tons of YouTube tutorials to help you through the process, and sometimes the stylist will demonstrate on how to wear it correctly if it is your first time.

  1.    Both wigs and weaves you can get numerous wears out of

If you decide to get a sew-in, with human hair, you can later reuse the hair. You could save it for clip-ins, wigs, or even your next sew-in. You must make sure that both your hair and the weave are properly taken care of. With human hair wigs, you can get more wear out of since you don’t have to wear it every day. But again, make sure you take care of both your hair and the weave.

When it comes to both wigs and weaves, it is essential that you make sure you research the company and you research the hair. You want to get a good quality of hair. Also, make sure your stylist knows what they’re doing. They should be able to explain to you how to take care of your weave, or wig. Make sure your braid foundation is as flat as possible, to create a more natural effect. Always make sure your hair is taken care of underneath, and your edges aren’t pulled tight because you don’t want to lose them.
